Virtual Therapy Groups

During the spread of Covid-19, we found virtual groups to be a great option for increasing accessibility to group therapy services. We continue to utilize this technology so that you can still access high-quality therapy services from the comfort of your home. This includes:

Benefits of Group Therapy

Many people are often hesitant to participate in Group Therapy services, preferring one-on-one, individual therapy instead. Some aspects of treatment are best done in a group, though. Some benefits of Group Therapy include:

  • You get to see that other people, just like you, are struggling with similar problems, and may not feel so alone.

  • Hearing how other people have successfully applied new skills can give you ideas for how to do so in your own life.

  • It gives you the opportunity to get feedback and encouragement from a wider range of people.

  • You get to practice skills with people who are also interested in and committed to growing in the same way.

Getting Started

The first step is to complete a group Intake, which typically lasts 30-45 minutes. *These appointments are currently offered via Video-Conferencing. This will allow you to try it out and see what it is like before joining a virtual group session. During this appointment, we

  • Review your presenting problems and goals for treatment

  • Review relevant history, including any other treatment you have engaged in

  • Discuss any diagnoses and any other services that may be recommended

  • Discuss group requirements and expectations to make sure it is a good fit for your needs

  • Discuss expectations related to confidentiality, communication, payment/insurance, and procedures for crises or other services needed beyond group sessions.
